We definitely saw a trend this summer for more informal weddings. It’s something we think is neat idea for the right couple. After all, less time sitting for a formal dinner and more time for dancing is never a bad thing! (For the right couple..)

So while yes, less formal does have it’s good qualities here Tara makes some great counterpoints why going to the extreme and eliminating “all the rules” can sometimes lead to some unforeseen issues. Bottom line as we always tell our clients is any idea can work but you must know your guests and take them into account!!

I get that many couples want to do away with the formality and want it to be a relaxed affair. So, when  one of my couples told me that they just didn’t want to have any “rules” and that included not having assigned seating, I didn’t have a problem with it.  However, about 10 minutes into the reception, as people began claiming their seats, I suddenly began to see the error of such a lax attitude toward assigned seating.  Here are just a few reasons why you should have a seating chart:
