Doug and Alissa met in 2013 during graduate school at Marywood University; they were both pursuing masters degrees in counseling. They had two classes together and sat next to each other, but spent half of the semester not speaking. One day, Doug finally broke the ice and asked Alissa to accompany him on an outing for a class project. The rest is history.
They clicked immediately and their relationship effortlessly fell into place. Within a year they were engaged and planning for the future. They spent that summer traveling through California, Colorado and excitedly anticipating future adventures.
They began their wedding day separately by embarking on bonding activities with their wedding party. The girls spent an hour doing yoga and the guys went for a hike at the Delaware Water Gap.
Their ceremony was riverside at the Shawnee Inn in the Poconos on September 6, 2015. It was a beautiful day over Labor Day weekend. All of their closest family and friends were there to support the newlyweds and celebrate with them. The reception moved indoors to a banquet room with a rustic charm where the couple experienced wonderful speeches on their behalf and lots of memories to last a lifetime.
